Basketball Champions League Asia round 1 best performance: Troy Gillenwater (by Hoops Agents)

American Forward Troy Gillenwater (205-F-1988) had an amazing evening in the last round for top-ranked Dewa United Banten, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 1.
The 37-year old player was the main contributor (29 points, eight rebounds) to his team's victory, helping them to beat Johor Tigers (#3, 0-2), the league's bottom-ranked team 91-79. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed Dewa United to consolidate first place in the Basketball Champions League Asia. But it's just the very beginning of the season and Dewa United won both games without losing any. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. In the team's last game Gillenwater had a remarkable 60.0% from 2-point range and got four three-pointers out of 6 attempts. He just recently signed at Dewa United and just after two games he already turned to be a very valuable addition to the team. Former New Mexico State University star has very solid stats this year. Gillenwater is league's best scorer averaging so far 30.0ppg. Gillenwater is in league's top in rebounds (5th best: 8.5rpg) and averages impressive 58.3% FGP and 53.8% from behind 3-point line.

The second best player in last round's games was young American Eric Freeman (202-F-1997) of league's second-best Hitech Bangkok City. Freeman had a very good evening with a double-double of 21 points and 16 rebounds. Of course Hitech cruised to a 90-80 relatively comfortable win over Johor Tigers (0-2). The season is still at the very beginning and this victory may help a lot. Let's wait for the next round. Freeman is one of the most experienced players at Hitech and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 20.5ppg (#3). He also registered 9.5 boards per game.

Third on the list of top players last round was American guard Scottie Lewis (196-G-2000) of Johor Southern Tigers (#3). Lewis scored 29 points. Despite Lewis' great performance the Johor Tigers lost 79-91 to #1 ranked Dewa United. But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. Johor Tigers can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have awful season losing so far all 2 games. Lewis has individually a great season in Basketball Champions League Asia. After only 2 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 23.5ppg (2nd best) and assists with 3.5apg (7th best).
